Melotte-15/IC 1805/Heart Nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. Discovered by William Herschel.

Melotte-15/IC 1805 is the star cluster at the heart of the Heart Nebula. The photo shows the main part of the nebula, but it spans the size of about 5 full moons.

About 7,500 light years away, the star cluster is an association of very young hot blue supergiant stars that is only around 1.5 million years old.

Magnitude 6.5, but dark skies, nebula filter and large aperture telescope would be best to observe the surrounding nebula. A real challenge!
